The City of Lund
Lund is one of Scandinavia’s oldest towns. Its university is ranked among the leading universities in the world. Lund is the place where tradition and innovation meet, where distances are short, and research among the world’s best.
The municipality is a home to about 119 000 people. With its 40 000 full time students and thousands of researchers from all over the world the university shapes the town and its character. The biggest employers in Lund are the Skåne University Hospital, Lund University, and the City of Lund.
Towards the north east a new part of town is being built - Brunnshög. Here, the research facilities MAX IV and ESS stand for world class materials research.
Lund is part of the Öresund region, one of Europe’s expansive regions. About four million people live here. The international airport Kastrup and Malmö airport are only half an hour away from Lund’s city centre. From here you can reach Malmö in 10 minutes and central Copenhagen in 45 minutes.
